Mammal Hands
“The semi-classical drums/sax/piano trio Mammal Hands mutate into a high-volume rave act” The Guardian

Captivating, ethereal and majestic, Mammal Hands are driven by their unique line-up of drums, piano and saxophone. Their hypnotic music draws on a rich well of influences from Sufi trance and West African music to folk music, contemporary classical, spiritual jazz and electronica to produce something uniquely their own. Their powerful live shows have seen them hailed as one of the most exciting bands in Europe and they have drawn comparisons to the likes of GoGo Penguin and Portico Quartet. They appear tonight playing music from their most recent releases Shadow Work and Becoming.

Nick Smart keyboards, Jesse Barrett drums and tabla, and Jordan Smart saxophones.

Support from Galli

Galli are a trio from Norwich formed by singer songwriter Georgia King at the end of 2017. With the intention to expand the boundaries of her idiosyncratic sound, Georgia recruited Ash Woolnough on Bass and Alex Elliot on Drums, who brought a wide range of alternative rock, jazz and experimental influences to the mix. The three playing styles blend alluringly, and together with Georgia’s ethereal vocals, create a captivating and heady concoction with twists and turns at every corner. Parallel to the excitement and subtle technicality is a consistent foundation of vulnerability and emotion pouring out in Georgia’s voice and underlying all of the music that Galli produces, making for a personal and cathartic listening experience.
