Tash Aw is the author of four critically acclaimed novels; The Harmony Silk Factory, Map of the Invisible World, Five Star Billionaire and We the Survivors.

His novels have twice been longlisted for the Booker Prize and have been translated into 23 languages. Aw was born in Taiwan to Malaysian parents and grew up in Kuala Lumpur. He moved to England to study Law and later graduated from the Creative Writing MA at UEA. In 2019, Aw joined Jean McNeil in conversation at our autumn Literary Festival. They discussed Aw’s latest book, We the Survivors, described by John Burnside in the Guardian as, ‘a narrative of exile, marginalisation and corporate greed, of abuses of the land and those who scrape a living from it, all of which have helped to form contemporary Malaysia.’
