During UEA Term Time the Box Office counter is open between 9:30am and 5:00pm with phone lines open from 10:00am through till 4:30pm. Out of UEA Term Time the counter is open between 10:00AM and 4:00pm with the phones open from 10:00 till 3:30pm. Please note that UEA Term Time is approx: Middle of September to the Middle of December Middle of January to the Middle of March Middle of April to the Middle of June PLEASE NOTE: The Box Office also closes for a few days around the Easter Bank Holiday and also from Christmas through to the New Year. If you are unsure if we are in term time or out of term time then please contact the Box Office before visiting on 01603 508050.
The Box Office opening hours can differ from the time a gig goes on sale. This is due to the fact that we have set opening hours, but can actually put gigs on sale when we arent here! We do advertise the time that they go onsale on the website, but this is only the time that you can buy them online. The times for over the counter sales and Telesales are different (and can be found in the question above). When a gig goes onsale we try to hold tickets back for the counter and Telephone so if it sells out online then you can always try calling or visiting, though please be aware there will be instances when events sell out online before the tickets arrive at the Box Office. If you are unsure as to if you should book online or come to the counter then please contact the Box Office and we will offer our advice on when and how to book a particular gig.
Please note that when a gig confirms we have to order tickets from our printer and this can take a few days. We do endeavour to get them to us asap but in some instances the tickets arrive a few days after the confirmation date. We would therefore always recommend calling us to check that tickets are in before travelling any distance to get them.
We apologise for any inconvenience that this causes.
The booking fees that you pay for using these payment types are variable and depend on the gig and where it is being held. The best place to find out is to see the individual events, but as a rough guide:
Less than £5 from £1 Between £5 and £20 from £1.50 Over £20 from £2.00
Please note that Booking Fees are payable on all Credit/Debit Card Bookings. This applies to transactions online, over the phone and over the counter.
Please note that Cash over the counter incurs no booking fees apart from non-UEA and WF events where we charge a 50p handling charge per ticket. PLEASE NOTE THAT WE NO LONGER ACCEPT CHEQUES.
For Some Events the Booking Fee will be payable irrespective of Cash/Card etc over the counter. Before travelling to the Box Office we would always suggest phoning to discuss the best method of payment.
What happens is that when you book we check with your bank to see that the funds are available before accepting the booking. Your bank takes this check as you having spent the money and therefore “earmarks” it as “going to be taken” and so it shows the funds as unavailable. When you cancel the booking, from our end, we simply ignore the booking (it vanishes from our “to do” lists etc) but your bank holds the money aside for a few days as it doesn’t know that we won’t be taking it. Depending on your bank, it can be a week or so before they free your money up again for you to use.
A Face Value refund is offered when an event is cancelled or postponed but tickets have to be physically returned to the UEA Box Office within one month of the cancelled date. we cannot accept responsibility for tickets which are lost in the post.
Tickets should be returned to:
THE UEA BOX OFFICE UNION HOUSE UEA NORWICH NORFOLK NR4 7TJ
Tickets returned after the one month deadline will not be refunded.
Even though we may have a record of your booking without the physical ticket(s) no refunds can be given. Tickets are high value items which are transferrable and can therefore be used by anyone who has possession of them to attempt to obtain a refund.
For this reason we would always recommend that tickets are sent back by Recorded Delivery. Please note that this is our recommendation, not a requirement. Please remember - No Ticket, No Refund.
We do send out tickets as and when we can depending on the date of the booking and the date of the event. If it is less than 10 working days to the event date then we will put your tickets on the door of the event. We do however reserve the right to NOT send out tickets and to place them on the door. Please check the 2nd email to see the location status of any bookings you place - should you have any queries please contact us.
Should you wish to take any form of image then you will need the permission of the promoter who will issue Press Passes where appropriate. To enquire about the passes please visit the individual bands OFFICIAL websites and look for the "Contact Us" section.
This applies to the use of Mobile Phones with Cameras as well. Using cameras/phones could result in your eviction from the venue.
As a general rule to a gig/concert at the Waterfront or UEA, you need to be 14 years old or over, although this can vary from event to event (e.g. "Family Shows" may be younger).
For our Club Nights you need to be 18 years or over. In both cases Photo ID will be asked for in where there is any doubt over whether you are old enough to attend an event.
If you are unsure of the age for a particular event please contact the Box Office.
Sorry - No! Crowd surfers WILL be ejected from the venue as it is considered a risk to both the "surfer" as well as members of the audience. You should also be aware that if you are ejected from the venue you may be refused right of entry again.
Apart from the UEA Box Office itself or online at this website, tickets can also be purchased from Soundclash (St Benedict's Street) although they do charge a booking fee for all payment types. Waterfront events can also be purchased from The Waterfront on King Street.

Yes. By clicking on the "Order History" tab of your account you will be able to see if the booking has been processed or not.
We are currently looking into this issue (which happens very rarely) but would recommend that if you receive this message you either contact the Box Office (01603 508050) or check your "Order History" to see if the booking has actually worked before placing the order again. We do apologise for any inconvenience that this causes and we hope to rectify this issue shortly.
The Website advertises the DOOR time of an event. This is not the time that the bands will neccessarily start, but is the time that the doors open. Unfortunately we (the Box Office) wont know the time that bands go on until at least the day of the event (if at all!). If you are making Travel arrangements then we would always suggest checking the FINISH time of an event by calling the Box Office or appropriate venue.
If you booked 10 days or more before an event then the tickets have probably been sent out to you, but we would recommend checking your "Order History" first to see if the tickets have been left on the door for you to collect. If you ordered within 10 days of an event it is likely that the tickets are on the door.
Please note that if tickets are not received in the post we do not re-issue tickets or send out duplicates. To make sure that you get your tickets we would recommend using Recorded or Guaranteed delivery to ensure that your tickets arrive. When choosing these options though please be aware that someone will need to be available to sign for the tickets.
If you have booked for a Norwich Arts Centre event through us then please be aware that we no longer send out tickets for them - all you need do is turn up on the night and provide your name and order number.
The Union would recommend a card from the PASS scheme which is endorsed by the Home Office (www.pass-scheme.org.uk). If you visit this site and open the page "Information for Youngsters" it lists all the scheme participants. Our most commonly seen ones in Norwich are Validate or Citizen Cards. The important thing about any ID card is that they have the holographic PASS stamp (this is where the dodgy internet cards come un-stuck)!!
If you select collection then you can either come to the Box Office in Union House (clearly signposted on the UEA Campus) up to the day of the event or you can turn up on the door of the event to collect your ticket. The Box Office is open between 9:30 and 5 Monday to Friday (term time) and 10 – 4 out of term. If you have ordered a ticket for an event at Norwich Arts Centre or Puppet Theatre through us then you don’t collect the tickets from us at all – you just go along on the evening with your name and order number.
You have left before your reserved tickets are made available again.
In the interests of giving everyone the opportunity to buy tickets, reserved tickets must be bought within 15 minutes.
Once you enter the checkout process, your time limit will be extended to take into account any unfortunate delay.
