Wild Beasts

Wild Beasts are a 4 piece band from Kendal, United Kingdom now based in Leeds, UK. Their debut single, Brave Bulging Buoyant Clairvoyants backed with The Old Dog was released on Bad Sneakers Records on 20th November 2006.

With Hayden's "enormous falsetto voice, which soars over chiming guitars," Brave Bulging Buoyant Clairvoyants was placed at number 17 in the national independent record labels chart, which is published by the UK chart company in its first week of release.

In February 2007 Wild Beasts signed to Domino Records. "The Devil's Crayon" single was released in June 2008 with the album "Limbo, Panto" released on June 16 2008.

"Two Dancers" was released 3 August 2009. The Sunday Times gave the album its Album Of The Week accolade, reviewing it 5/5 and described it as "one of 2009's indisputable masterpieces".

The four boys of Wild Beasts aren’t concerned with being of the modern, or being of the renaissance, being baggy pantsed or being tight pantsed, being in a scene or being in a place. Wild Beasts’ music just is.

Wild Beasts released their much anticipated third album, Smother, on 9th May 2011. The follow-up to the Mercury-nominated and critically acclaimed Two Dancers.

Born out of an intense six week period of writing in East London and a month recording in remotest Wales, Smother was co-produced by the Kendal four-piece with long term collaborator Richard Formby. An album of intense atmosphere, space and beguiling rhythm, Smother is formed of ten songs which linger in the memory, each track pulsing with sensuality. Bold, textured and romantic, Smother is a deeply personal and immensely affecting record, which maintains the delicate and evocative form of beauty Wild Beasts have made their own.
